Chris Proctor is known nationwide as one of the modern masters of fingerstyle guitar,
and is at the forefront of the contemporary steel-string guitar movement.
His music is rooted in classic Americana- spiced with folk, Celtic, jazz, pop,
and classical flavors, all of which are in evidence in the 16 newly recorded
original pieces which comprise The Chris Proctor Collection.
Chrisís warm stage presence and sense of humor, his 12-string and slide work,
his adventurous 6-string techniques and tunings, his finely-crafted original guitar pieces
and arrangements, and his pioneering use of the electronic bow have all made him
a favorite with guitar fans.
Winner of the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in 1982,
and popular Sugarhouse, Rounder, Flying Fish and Windham Hill recording artist.
"With an acoustic fingerstyle guitar that will challenge your imagination,
Chris Proctor uses the tools of his trade--6- and 12-string guitars--
and the many expressive ways to play them, to venture into new territories,
drawing on elements of folk, jazz, blues, classical, and pop."
"More like Kottke, he composes genuine guitar 'tunes' distinct from one
another in their melodic symmetry, stylistically unique in their achieving
a lovely suspension between tonal haiku and technical prose."
Los Angeles Times - San Diego County
"Be sure to attend tonight's Chris Proctor concert so you can say
that you saw him before he became famous."
